Supported Databases

Database Browser currently supports following databases.

  • MySQL database
  • Microsoft SQL Server database
  • Oracle database
  • Google Cloud SQL databases
  • mLab - MongoDB

and we will continue to add more databases to this list in the future.

If you are looking other databases or data sources support, please contact us.

Note: The databases need to be running from cloud or connected to Internet and access enabled to be connected by Database Browser. If you are not sure, please contact your database administrator or contact us.

Connecting to SQL Databases

SQL Databases

  • MySQL database
  • Microsoft SQL Server database

The SQL databases are connected by providing Host Name/ IP Address, Database Name, User Name and Password.

Connecting to Google Cloud SQL Databases

The Google Cloud SQL databases are connected by providing Instance connection name, User Name and Password.

To get the instance name,

  • goto https://console.cloud.google.com/
  • choose your project
  • select SQL under Storage from the side navigation menu
  • click on the instance
  • You will see the "Instance connection name" as shown in the picture below

Connecting with "mLab - Mongo Db" - Pro feature

To connect with mLab - Mongo DB, you will need to enable API Access with mLab. Once the API Access is enabled, mLab provides an API key.


Please check documentation for enabling API access

Then in the Database Browser add-on, to make connection -

  • Select Database Type as "mLab - MongoDb"
  • Provide API that you got it from mLab
  • Press "Apply" button as shown in the picture
  • If you see any error, please check your API key
